Children's Dentistry Phinney Ridge

Girl Brushing Teeth | Children's Dentistry Phinney RidgeWhen it comes to choosing a dentist for your child, the experience is important.

Dr. Micah Bickel has extensive experience treating children of all ages. He was the lead pediatric dental surgeon for the Tulalip Tribes Dental Clinic from 2010 to 2015 and is a founding representative for the Baby Teeth Matter collaborative for research, development, and improvement of oral health for Washington Dental Services Foundation.

His focus on prevention will help keep your children's smiles beautiful and healthy as they grow.

Your Child’s First Dental Appointment

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child has their first dental appointment by their first birthday. An early dental visit can create the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles and give you the opportunity to ask questions about your child’s development and address any concerning habits such as thumb sucking.

At your little one’s first visit, we will make the experience enjoyable! We will help familiarize them with the sights and sounds of the dental office as well as perform an exam. We will also spend time discussing home care and how you can best support your child’s oral health and wellness.

Ongoing Pediatric Dentistry

As your child develops, Dr. Bickel will incorporate diagnostic x-rays and other preventive treatment routines such as fluoride treatments and sealants.

Digital x-raysDental x-rays are still one of the best ways to detect decay in its early stages. By focusing on early diagnosis, we help your little one stay healthy.

Fluoride treatments – Fluoride treatments are used as needed and can be beneficial for some patients, especially if they are prone to decay. Recent studies have shown that fluoride treatments during regular dental visits decrease to the likelihood of your child developing cavities by 70 percent.

Protective dental sealants – Dental sealants create a barrier between decay-causing bacteria and your child’s teeth. Made of BPA-free resin, we apply them as needed in the deep grooves of the chewing surfaces of your child’s teeth where decay is most likely to occur.

Dr. Bickel has a gift with kids! He speaks to them in a way that they understand and engages their sense of curiosity. Kids love coming to our office!

Children Smiling | Phinney Ridge DentalPediatric Dental Cleanings

We customize our dental cleanings to meet each individual patient’s needs. We will clean and polish your child's teeth and provide education about good home care techniques. By making kids active participants in their oral health, we can engage and motivate your little one to play a role in taking care of their own smile.

Proper brushing, flossing, and dietary suggestions teach your little one about the importance of their teeth.

Restorative Dentistry for Kids

Most kids will need a filling at some point during their lives. We work at your child’s pace and make their comfort a priority. By delivering pain-free dental treatment, we can make each appointment a positive experience even when restorative treatment is necessary.
